While when doped with 5mol% magnesium oxide, MgOCLN crystal shows 2 orders of magnitude increase in optical damage threshold, OH-infrared absorption peak to 3535cm-1,UV-absorption edge position shifts to 310 nm and coercive field for domain reversal also decreases from 21KV/mm to 6KV/mm below, which greatly develops the applications of LN crystal. MgOCLN is also a good crystal for optical parametric oscillators (OPOs) and amplifiers (OPAs), quasi-phase-matched doublers and integrated waveguide.
